Transformative Employment Opportunities for people with an intellectual disability in Local Government Authorities

catalyst training & disability services received funding from the NDIS for an Information, Linkages and Community (ILC) grant to develop employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

The project worked with 2 Local Government Authorities (LGAs) to design and implement a replicable model of recruitment, support and paid employment for adults with intellectual disability. The project operated at a deep level of cultural change, developing the capacity of the LGAs to support and retain employees with Intellectual Disability.

Each Local Government has identified and committed 3 paid positions and catalyst training & disability services has offered advice, training and support to ensure the success of employees with an intellectual disability.

A toolbox of resources has been developed to assist all Local Government Areas to recruit and retain employees with an intellectual disability.
